IWL Is Proud to be the Founding Collaborator of International Allyship Day

International Allyship Day is celebrated annually on August 8. This holiday dedicates the day to celebrating and promoting the power of allyship across the globe. On this unique day, we come together to recognize the importance of standing up for one another, fostering inclusivity, and building bridges of support and understanding.

Dictionary.com defines allyship as the status or role of a person who advocates and actively works for the inclusion of a marginalized or politicized group in all areas of society, not as a member of that group but in solidarity with its struggle and point of view and under its leadership.

PRIDE IN OUR JOURNEYS

Roughly 1 out of 2 (43%) lesbian, gay, and bisexual people have been open with their family about their sexual orientation. Those same numbers hold for the 46% of employees who haven’t revealed their orientation at work.

Now more than ever, we need to be intentional about learning from LGBTQIA+ journeys and taking action as allies and advocates.
Watch the replay to learn from some LGBTQIA+ journeyers and the journeys of some of their allies who call themselves family, friend or colleague.
